When I did a post on taste, I thought it might be a good idea to give thanks for my favorite smells. So here goes. I like the smell of freshly ground coffee - perfect for turning any room into such a warm and welcoming one. I like the smell of uncooked pancake batter - no other dough has this addictively heady odor, I sometimes think I would totally buy and use a perfume that resembled the smell if I could ever come across one. And last, but not least, I like the smell of the pages of a new book... This one is particulary cool as it fades away fairly quick.
Amazing!!! there is NOTHING better than the smell of freshly ground coffee!!! I was also JUST in a library yesterday and was thinking about how much I love the smell of pages in a book. So incredible! I love your posts, they remind me of the simple pleasures in a chaotic life :)
ReplyDeleteI like the smell of fresh ground coffee as well , it is strong , mystic and dark smell but I do agree it's very welcoming scent ..I really love the smell after the rain , it's so fresh and magical ..the fresh books do smell lovely but the old ones oh no - gives only a big sneeze : )))
ReplyDeletehappy Holiday Julia ..
Julia, happy Easter to you too, dear! You know, my mother was dying today while making it.. you have to knead it very very hard and a lot and she hates it.. and imagine, we still have to bake it..
ReplyDelete& I love this thank-you post!! I couldn't imagine world without smells, but I unfortunatelly am taken away of this sense every Spring when my allergy starts. It's a funny thing when you sometimes hint the smell of something very very familiar and then it's suddenly gone and you really couldn't figure out what was it?! And you remain with the question mark for few seconds with that strange nostalgic feeling inside... Have you ever felt that? I did for many many years until one day I figured out what was that smell- it was vanilla, but a very very strong one, almost spicy, which I smelt for the first time on my trip to Tunis when only 2 years old. It was such a discovery for me!
xx
I love the smell of school supplies, particularly pencils. How dumb is that? Also love coffee smell, campfire, cedar, all the usual stuff.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Julia! I love the smell of a new book too that's why one of my fave place to hang-out is a bookstore. :=)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of going to make some pancakes, just so I can smell the batter now. :) Happy Easter Julia!!
ReplyDeleteI have a little giveaway if you wanna swing on by. :)
xx Love & Aloha
Amazing comments, girls! Looks like we're having a little book warms with coffee in their hands club here hehe :)
ReplyDeleteI love the scent of a new book. :-) Especially if it has glossy pages! I love the scent of new magazines, as well. :-)
ReplyDeletehehe..yes, freshly grounded coffee smells heavenly and it normally stops your cravings for more food too. I think I should carry a bag of coffee bean (not grounded) in my purse and sniff when I want to go binge. heh...
ReplyDeleteI bought those pre-mixed pancake or waffle flour so it really didn't have strong aroma after mixing up. However, I do love the smell after they has baked. :) Ah.. I just bought some more Russia tea cakes. (it also called Mexican wedding cake I think) However, it is not like cake at all, it is a crusty cake w/ pecan or walnuts inside. :)
Have a great sunday evening.
MMMM fresh coffee grounds and new books! I don't really make pancakes so I can't really say about that =P But I also love the smell of freshly cut grass. It makes me think of lazy hot summer days =)
ReplyDeleteLOVE this- coffee and a book, yes please! Also, Thanksgiving cooking for me is a big one. :)
ReplyDeleteNice! This may sound weird but I also like the smell of used library books. Yeah, kinda gross, but that must well-read smell gets me every time ;) xo
