I am thankful I was stubborn enough and went for my foot tattoo even though practically everyone was skeptical about the design, including my tattoo artist. The drawing is my own - I found it in my old notebook from when I was 14 or so and decided I wanted the weird thingy permanently inked on me. So glad I didn't feel it was rude to be giving the tattoo girl a hard time about its exact placement too, huh. After all, four years later it's still my most favorite tattoo and the one I get asked about the most - if it somehow got erased I would go and get it done again and again and again.
Go on girl! I love this, I'm so passionate about tattoos & its meanings, all that matters is that you like it & won't regret it, after all it's on your body, people need to fuck off.
ReplyDeleteHaha, true true true :)
ReplyDeletegood on you for standing your ground and getting what YOU want.
ReplyDeleteit was the same when I got my first tattoo!
Wow...you have a self-designed tattoo...how brave!...is that the same tattoo we are talking about, in the pic?
ReplyDeletedaisychain, yay for that! :) I know it's real easy to get off track and agree to change something, but when it comes to tattoos, every decision needs to be well thought, so anythign impulse can turn out to be a very regrettful experience...
ReplyDeleteNoble Beeyotch, yes, the one in the picture. I have another one self designed too :)
You designed the tattoo? That's so cool. If I were younger, I would definitely get a tattoo.
ReplyDeleteI am dying of curiosity, what is this mysterious design ??
ReplyDeletemy turn to ask for another close up ;-)
unless it is too private of course.
Guillaume
i've been wanting to get one, too. just couldn't decide on a design. you're lucky you got to decide on what you wanted.. and your own design at that! :)

Leah, well, maybe 'designed' is too big of a word to use here - it was just a quick random sketch in a notebook :) And I believe one is never too old to get a tattoo... It's not about age, but rather why you want it.
ReplyDeleteGuillaume, isn't this picture close enough? :) And the design is really all that you see in this pic, not much 'design' haha And well, who really knows now what this little sketch was really supposed to represent?.. ;)
Joei, I didn't really ever have to decide - to me, each of my tattoos carries a special meaning so what I wanted was always 'coming' from elsewhere :)
I love it!! I am fascinated with tattoos on other people, I am obsessed! I think it's because I am too wimpy to do it myself ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, girlie! :)
ReplyDeleteself designed tattoo?? brave! ive wanted a tattoo for so long now, but havent found the balls to get one yet. did it hurt ?? and honestly, who cares what ppl have to think or say - a tattoo is meaningful to the person whose getting it. thats all that matters
ReplyDeleteps. i would love for you to enter my giveaway :)

I've never heard of anyone getting a tattoo without an exact meaning assigned to it. That's really cool. I think that's why you can enjoy it after so long ~ because you can reinterpret the meaning whenever you like.
ReplyDeleteoh i love this! i designed my first as well and still love it 7 years later :) though i can't really imagine getting anything permanently inked that i didn't truly believe i would love forever...
ReplyDeleteSelf designed Tattoo is the best I think! Must be painful there.
ReplyDeleteI am gonna have a new one soon...
Lou, tattoos DO hurt. But it's perfectly bearable. Depend son the eprson and placement, of course, but most people can stand it fairly well.. I actually enjoy it? :)
ReplyDeleteGraham, some people do that and that's something I never wanted to understand lol
Wonderfelle, exactly. If not love forever than at least able to stand haha
Kata, yes, it was actually my most painful one. The smallest I have but that was intense.
hey it will be painful na
ReplyDeletedo u like pain
Forgot to ask:
ReplyDeleteWhat does the tattoo mean to you, at least at this moment? Does it remind you of what you were doing at age 14?
I so wish I had a personal connection and love for mine! Ugh.
ReplyDeleteNaveen, pain from getting a tattoo? Yes. It's addictive... Always find myself wondering how the sensation differs when getting it on various body parts lol
ReplyDeleteGraham, it doesn't really remind me of the life phaze, but I do remember when and why I drew it in my notebook - I was on the beach with my then best freind and we were talking about the kind of tattoos we'd like to have lol I love it because it was drawn in the spark of the moment, such a little sudden outburst of creativity... I'm not usually good at drawing but sometimes I would have those moments when I would just get inspired, sit down and really draw something that would look appealing to me. Same goes for other types of handwork too. So I guess it kind of serves as a reminder that if I really want to then I can. Does this make sense? I realize it's not something I can completely explain, but I definately 'feel' it.
Oh, Kristin... Maybe it's still not too late to create one? ;)
I still like my tattoos too. I have one on my toe that is my favorite. It's like a toe ring :) xo
ReplyDeleteShannon, what's up with those foot/toes tattoos? Is it a secret place that once is inked is loved forever? hehe :)))
ReplyDeletei am thinking too to have a tatoo....for so many years didn't know what to do,but when i finally decide(the little man from series "the saint")i fell in love with my wife...probably her name will be in my back!!
ReplyDeleteOh JP, names could be uhm... Just be careful with that, I wouldn't recommend... Well, you know, just in case? lol
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean. Thanks :)

ReplyDeleteEllinelle, old notebooks are fun, no doubt about that! :) And I see now! lol
How cool! Is that it in the picture? I love tattoos on others but I'm far too fickle to get one myself, I change my mind too much.
ReplyDeleteCaitlin, yep it is the one in the picture :)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of getting my first tattoo this year (but I've been saying that for like three years now!), so I really like this post. :-)
ReplyDeleteTreacle, thank you! If you really want it, then I hope you finally get it!!! :)
