One of the Things I'd Like to See Disappear Forever

I am so thankful I am naturally anti-racist. No one ever tought me that and I consider it a good thing that no one had to. And I don't know about you, but I am hopelessly in love with the world's diversity and definately not ashamed to admit it! The same is boring. Period.

  1. your right i love this ! Julia you dont know how much this means to me especially after some of the treatment i got in Russia. Not all of it was bad, but shocking nevertheless. There is enough hate in this world as it is and we definately should not add to that especially on such narrow and ignorant basis. Am not black, your not white....we are all part of God's pick and mix.

  2. It's such a sad thing to hate people for something that is completely out of their control. But I'm thankful there are people out there who feel the way we do, and still fight to raise awareness.

  3. I totally agree... I love the uniqueness of each race and color.

  4. I'm with you on this. I hate the idea of being racist. However living where I do has taught me shit about different races. There's not many Caucasians where I live, so there's pretty much every other race except that - & there's alot of violence, hatred & terrible things that go on from 'certain' races & that's taught me that "majority of the problems are from this & that race". I know it sounds stupid but being in NYC will let you know exactly what I mean.

  7. I didn't expect anything else from you guys but being with me on this one :) So happy not to be dissapointed :) THANK YOU for being the way you are!

For the Fierce, I can understand where you're coming from. But such 'unfavorable' behavior comes from having a certain mind set, and not race/nationality. There are jerks in every nation. :-)

Guillaume, thanks for sharing!! I like :)

  8. ..Hello darling ..I agree with everything that you said ..when I was growing up I never hear and have any thought about rasism .. it's just so short minded to judge someone by the race ..it's so sad because there is rasism in the world .. about 2 months ago I watched bbc report about that ..I was SHOCKED what is happening .. I will try to check if that report are on internet ..I will let you know .. have a nice nice evening ..

  9. i agree with you! i attribute it to my parents but also my generation and surroundings. i grew up in LA, so diversity in my school was always how it was. never thought twice about it...still don't.

  10. Totally agree. I grew up in Kentucky, so it' s nice now being in NYC where everyone is so open and accepting. Question...I find the older I get, everyone is so concerned about being PC by saying things like "African American" instead of black. I have a lot of black friends, and I'm definitely not racist, but sometimes I get the impression that people think I am being inappropriate because of the terms I use. What do you think?

  13. I have noticed a terrible increase in the expression of racist comments since Obama was elected. My stepson, who (like me and his father) are attracted to and appreciative of diversity, has told me of awful racial exchanges at his school. My African American co-worker and friend has told me the same thing, coming from her daughter's school. It's obvious we still have a long way to go in ridding hatred from homes here in America. Sad. But we can get there. I firmly believe it.

  14. Some of society's great questions are: Will racism ever end? Will its traces haunt us forever?

My answer: The only way to end it is to mix our bloodlines so much that we all look the same. Hear that, commenters? Let's all get started.

  16. I would think (and hope) that anyone born in this day and age would accept people of all colors. I'm so thankful I was born when I was ;) However, there are still parts of this world (many from America) where their families and communities brainwash children with racist thoughts. So sad.

  17. a wonderful thing to be thankful for! and re: Graham's comment - mixed race babies are such a joy!

  18. Amen! That is so sweet and so true. I do not understand racism or homophobia. I just don't get it.

  19. Ellen, thank you for your comment. I think a lot depends on a person. I don't think there's ony one appropriate term. Some people prefer to be referred to as "black", some like "people of color", some like "African American", some "of African descent", some want to be called "brown" if anything at all... Some get offended hearing any of the above mentioned. I've really heard it all! It seems to me, some would get offended anyway, while some are okay with anything as long as it's respectful. From my personal experience, none of my black friends ever minded me saying "black". But then again, we don't talk about it until we're discussing interracial issues.

    Bo, exactly, flesh is pink.

Gropius, it seems to me that a lot of people think of Obama's presedency as an open suggestion to disclose their views on race, which are sometimes very pathetic and sad views.

Graham, in the end we'll all be Asian with darker skin. White will die out and tehre will be no natural blondes lol But seriously, did you know the Asian gene was the most powerful one?

    Shannon, very sad indeed!

Wonderfelle, I think it's almost official that mixed race people are the most beautiful people :)

THANK YOU EVERYONE again! I honestly didn't expect anything else but such a united front, and does it feel good not to be dissapointed! THANK YOU!

  20. ~ Really!? I see how that might be true. In my case, the caucasian genes were way stronger. haha. Thanks for the nice comment on my logo. I'm fascinated by this week of pancakes of which you speak. Sounds like just my kind of celebration :D

  21. Graham, let's say you're just the exception proving the general rule lol

  22. No, you're the exception, Julia.
In any case, you are exception-al :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. This is exceptionally sweet of you to say that, Graham... but I don't quite fit the rule - both parents are 'boringly' white haha Anyways, thaaaank you :)

  24. I absolutely agree, I'm so glad that the younger & new generations are racially-blind :)

  26. ..sorry ..I said I will let you know about that bbc program ..I coudn't find the full record but you can see a bit on youtube - bbc "hate on the doorstep" .. the most shocking was the 11 year old boy , but I'm not sore it's there ..

  27. YES! I know these sorts of things should go without saying, but as a Black woman, I'm so happy to hear you say them anyway. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Treacle, thank you :) It should definately go without saying, and hopefully one day no one will even discuss it any more.
