Do What You Can

Yesterday as I was getting ready to turn in for the night I realized something had changed, it's like I could feel something had happened inside of my mind - some sort of a 'switch'. It came as a big and an extremely pleasant surprise to understand that this thing was my new approach to something very important to me in life - traveling. Even if I didn't always want to admit it, I almost always thought of traveling as a way to escape from one life situation or another (and it usually ended up with me somewhat successfully escaping from one such situation but getting right into the next troublesome thing). I'm still not sure when exactly it happened or what really caused this "switch", but I suddenly stopped feeling the need to run away... "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are" - something one of my buddies, Ben, once said (it's a Theodore Roosevelt quote) and something I'm very thankful for hearing. I knew I had to give it a try and it looks like it's working? Wow.

  1. Wow, that's very honest of you. A lot of people aren't willing to admit things like this to themselves. Well, I know you'll find a way to achieve the things right in front of you — because you're a seeker.

  2. This is such a lovely and simple statement that rings true for me as well. The older I get, the more I am able to accept where I am in life and try not to push things. Great things happen when you let go.

  3. Oh, this is so astonishing. I think I start feeling this too. They are far away, the moments where I said : "I'm fed up with this f... life, and I want to go away, no matter where!".
I just enjoy the present, with a strong beliefe that my current actions determine my future.

  4. Graham, thank you! You're such a sweetheart. And yes, I am very honest indeed... Honesty is my art, ha

Shannon, exactly!! I'm so thankful I'm given the chance to realize and understand it now while I'm still so young.

Kévy, thanks! True that, our current actions do make our future, I believe in that :)
