The Barcelona Chair

My first personal encounter with Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona chair took place at Living lounge in Milan last spring, and ever since then I could never miss an opportunity to praise its ridiculous comfortableness once asked either about chairs or my Milanese impressions. I think that night there is exactly the time when first seeds of this approaching designer chairs obsession were planted - I find myself developing some unhealthy interest in the subject. Anyways, before I write an essay, let me get down to thanking. Thank you, dear Ludwig, for creating a perfect chair!

P.S. I'm afraid I can't promise no posting about chairs in the future... It's taking over me!..

  10. I love the barcelona chair! When I first started assisting prop stylists, this was one of the first questions my boss asked me, I can still remember her staring me in the eye, leaning in, and asking in her thick Italian accent "Tell me, do you know who designed the barcelona chair?" I managed to stammer out..."M-M-M-Mies van der Rohe?" And it was more of a question rather than an answer...she was very intimidating and I ended up getting hired and learning so the world from her ;)

@Savvy Gal: The BCN chair would be one of your best bets!! It's a timeless classic and can even be dressed up or down. Like if you add some pillows or throw on blankets... It's like a mini sofa, serisouly! And then if you can get a whole set with their mini bed.... Ahh!. Dreamy! :)

  20. Yes I understand what you mean about the tattoo thing. I feel that alot of people get inked 'just because' or 'cause it's "cool". w/e tat someones getting should be thought through & should know if they'll regret it later or not. But yes I agree & I'm glad were on the same page with this tattoo thing. It's a great way to express yourself subliminaly -if thats a word... lol

  22. haha...I have one in our family room....the real one w/ signature. :) I remembered that Dh and I had a HUGE fight over this chair since it costs us $3000 around when I think I got good deal w/ 10%off w/o shipping nor tax. Ah, how does he know about classic furniture...anyway, after 2 years, he realized that at least I got taste to spend that much in a classic n' comfortable piece instead of buying junk!! haha....

Yes, the white one is especially enchanting, but i can't afford it being damaged by little monsters around the house. :)
