New Year, New Undertaking: Chairs

It's no secret between you and I that I have a thing for chairs. I've expressed thanks for them in 2009 and in 2010, and the start of 2011 marks my newest chair undertaking - I am now a contributor at the awesome ChairBlog!

You've been very supportive and tolerative of my passion and its expression on this blog and I really do appreciate that. Now that I'm taking it to a new level, I hope not to bother you with chairs here and hope to see you at the ChairBlog - you can take a look at my very first chair contribution here. Come tell me what you think!..

Chair Enthusiast

I'm thankful for my chair design enthusiasm. It gets ridiculous at times, but it brings too much joy!

P.S. The photo above is taken in Milan. Milan must be one of the coolest cities when it comes to display windows of all sorts!

GUM's Art Installations

I'm thankful for GUM Department Store's art installations. The idea is relatively new and it's such a good one - definately provides extra entertainment and artful education to one's shopping or cultural routine both for locals and Moscow's guests!

The photo above is taken during one such art installation dedicated to Moschino fashion brand and the history of its boutiques' best display windows worldwide. And if you know me, you know I just couldn't ignore the chairs!

Ghost Chair. Song.

I'm so thankful I came across this song - not only is it absolutely, magically beautiful, but it happened to really fit my current mood and, by making me think, made me realize a few new things, and all sorts of realizations are always welcomed here. Plus, how can I possibly not have a soft spot for a song mentioning chairs and titled 'Ghost Chair'? And you guys know what kind of a chair it is, don't you? Louis Ghost Chair was designed by Phillippe Starck for Kartell.

So here's the song, and the video is actually a live footage, how awesome is she?

SpanishFest at M'ARS

The SpanishFest expo at M'ARS Gallery was fantastic! And it's not just the Spanish designers' creations that we loved - the gallery people were so impossibly nice and friendly it felt like we were some place else, the gallery could as well have been lost somewhere in the midst of old European streets. Definately thankful for the experience and definately will be going back again and again. You can practically go alone and still feel like you're there with a bunch of friends, the guys are so amazing!..

P.S. Isn't this chair above by Jaime Hayon just awesome?!.

It's the Simple Things In Life We Forget

I've just been thinking lately how the change in my own attitude towards things have changed my perception of the world around me and my overall level of happiness. I used to easily forget about the simple things, simple joys of life, and then wonder why couldn't I feel more cheerful. Then things changed and I started noticing and looking up to the simple things... It's a daily habit now to let myself feel glad about a good cup of tea, to let myself smile at the thought of wearing leopard tights, to allow myself feel happy about sitting on my beloved chair... I'm now able to be thankful for the simplest things.

Her & Me

So, my priceless chair has finally arrived! And maybe I should actually be thankful for it taking so long and getting here so late - the store offered me to pick a gift as an apology for all the waiting, so I left with the set of those awesome Miriam Mirri for Alessi heart shaped spoons I've been drooling over for a while. Woohoo, thanks!..

Back to Chairs

Well, just like I said, I coudn't promise you no more posting about chairs... And the whole Pharrell's chain thing totally reminded me of my encounter with his Perspective's chairs at the Emmanuel Perrotin Gallery in Paris. I remember I really wanted to see the chairs in person when I saw the first photos of them... And how awesome was it to find out they were right there on display when I was in town! I was definately thankful and I still am. How do you like the chairs?

The Barcelona Chair

My first personal encounter with Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona chair took place at Living lounge in Milan last spring, and ever since then I could never miss an opportunity to praise its ridiculous comfortableness once asked either about chairs or my Milanese impressions. I think that night there is exactly the time when first seeds of this approaching designer chairs obsession were planted - I find myself developing some unhealthy interest in the subject. Anyways, before I write an essay, let me get down to thanking. Thank you, dear Ludwig, for creating a perfect chair!

P.S. I'm afraid I can't promise no posting about chairs in the future... It's taking over me!..

Her

I am soooo thankful I was able to afford a 'Him & Her' chair by Fabio Novembre for Casamania! I know not everyone likes or gets the design, but it's so me - I knew I had to have this chair ever since I saw one in some magazine in April. I so cannot wait for it to arrive here in February, this is going to fit perfectly into my newly redecorated room! I'm getting the 'Her' one in brown, matte finish. Yay! :-)

You can take a look at more pictures of the chair here.
