Flashing Lights

To me, this video is everything that is wrong with this world, in 4 minutes. Because everything starts within a human mind, and my mind is no exception. This would have to be my most favorite music + video combination too. I love the message in the song and I love the visual presentation. If you remember the two previous music videos (Save Room and T.O.N.Y.) I was thankful for, you can probably see how all three are similar. I'm thankful 'Flashing Lights' serves as a great reminder of the things I need to never forget about. Let me share one good Will Rogers quote with you while I'm at it too:
"Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like."

P.S. I'm afraid, if you don't see it the way I do and ask me what the heck I'm talking about, I wouldn't be able to explain.

  1. The video doesn't seem to be working for me, but I love the song. I don't really care for Kanye, but when he's not acting crazy, I do appreciate his bluntness. He's somewhat depressing, really. Always angry at the world! I really like that quote too. I wonder why it's so difficult to break away from trying to look good to others when most of the time it just seems to make you more unhappy.

  3. That is an excellent quote. A few years ago, I came to the realization that I needed to start living within my means, or it would be trouble! I have saved more money than I could've hoped for since, and I don't miss the random stuff that I would've bought!

  4. YJ, human nature?

Paul, I think sooner or later I'll come to this realization too... Well, I do understand it, but want to use the opportunity to be a little careless while I still can and age allows lol But it's awesome that it's brought contentment to you and proved to be profitable already!

  5. I totally agree with the quote. And I like the message of that video, yes, it's human nature that we get blinded by flashing lights.

    Happy Wednesday Julia!

  10. Brilliant video, and that quote really resonates with me. People get so caught up in consuming, nobody really bothers living.

  20. I've danced to this song many times in clubs, but never saw the video. I like the way they use stop-motion to mimic strobe lights.

I see what you mean about the girl's lifestyle... ending with such a tragic result. I wonder why they don't clearly show the curly haired girl... ? Maybe she's the same girl at a later point in time?

  22. Graham, you too? How come? :) But it's good though, as I thought everuone would be like "oh another blog features that video again" lol I think the curly haired girl might represent something un-living, like 'vice', 'vanity'... You know, something that leads us to making wrong choices.

    em.me.ma, thanks! Glad you like.
