Unzipped

I'm thankful for yet another funny episode at work (some of the previous ones included me having chocolate stains on my butt, me ending up being bare legged at work and wearing plastic bags). It took me 5 (FIVE!!) hours to realize why my booties felt so loose all of a sudden - turns out, I forgot to zip them before leaving for work and have been walking around the office in undone shoes for more than half a working day. I'm thankful for it, because when I noticed it made me laugh and lifted my mood instantly. I'm still giggling!

P.S. Zipped shoes feel so good on my feet... I think I'm thankful for the feeling of zipped shoes too then!

Simply

I'm just simply thankful for today. For simply being alive, for being able to plan my day and to go about my simple day filled with good news and fulfilled expectations. I'm thankful for the simple day that was simply out of the ordinary - just like every day should be.

Office Equipment

I'm thankful that I can use my office equipment for personal purposes too, any time I need it. This is super handy, and sometimes proves to be super useful and it saves time too!

Commute to Work

My office might not be situated in the most fabulous area of the city, but getting to see something like this every day when leaving work during the colder months of the year is sure enough a good thing to be thankful for! The sunsets are fantastic.

Be Smart & Have the Balls

On my way home from work yesterday I got caught in a pouring rain. And if you've been thankful with me for a while and remember those other funny work related things that happened to me this year (like this one time I ended up being bare legged at work or had my butt covered in chocolate), I'm guessing you anticipate another funny tale. You're not going to be dissapointed, and this time I even have a picture!
.
So, I got caught in a pouring rain and I absolutely couldn't bear a thought of my shoes getting wet, so I just bought two plastic grocery bags and put them on my feet and walked home like that... making quite a few passerbies smile, as you can imagine!.. Thanks universe for putting me near a grocery store at the time when it started raining heavily!

How I Ended Up Being Bare Legged at Work

How thankful am I that we don't really have a dress code at my workplace! Otherwise I would have probably been jobless by now.

The story is as follows: I get dressed in the morning, wearing a skirt and a shirt. The skirt is short but not too short... Until you walk in it. So halfway to the metro I notice it looks like I'm just wearing two shirts - the skirt kept getting up and up until it almost went missing. Not cool. I rush back home to change and as I don't have time to completely rethink my look, I just reach for the shorts that are similar in style and color to that unfortunate skirt. Not really a problem until halfway to the metro I realize those shorts are much shorter than I thought. Ugh. No time to go back.

So, I am definately thankful for not having a dress code at work, because even having showed up bearing so much leg I still have a job. Will think better about experimenting with new clothes when getting ready for work next time for sure!

Lunch-ing

The following thankful post is long overdue, I have to say!.. I'm thankful for our new lunches at work. Before, we used to have our office fridge stuffed with all those frozen ready made meals, which I barely ever ate so I had to cook my own lunches and take them to work (I care about my healthy eating habits a whole lot); but now, we have real lunches delivered to the office daily and I couldn't be happier about it! I also love it how I now have such a great chance to plan my meals ahead and to make sure I eat a variety of foods weekly without having to cook a thing!.. All I have to do is choose and order, awesome!
What and how do you eat at work?

In a Thankful State of Mind

I've mentioned something not so fortunate happening to me a while ago and I've also mentioned being very busy due to it... I also said that I, suprisingly, wasn't that upset or angry because of it all, which, in turn, surprised some of you. Look, there are so many things to be thankful for with this situation! Firstly, I'm grateful it happened now. Now is spring, it's warm and sunny, and it's always better to run errands when the wheather's that good - you're all energetic and full of life. Secondly, I'm happy I have an opportunity to be driven around in a car rather than having to travel from one place to another by feet, metro, buses and whatnot. And thirdly, as the situation at hand is kind of not such small deal, I really understand that it could've been so much worse. Let's just say if I happened to travel out of the country in the last months I might've as well ended up not being let out of the country and that could've been slightly embarassing - I've never experienced such a thing before and definately not planning to ever try.

P.S. I'm not a criminal. All I have to say is I should've known better - laws are not always perfect and not knowing something doesn't make you completely innocent.

No Need to Pretend to Be Busy

When you spend over a week gathering papers from various places and paying your duties where due in order to file documents to be processed at your local tax inspectorate, then wait 6 days, they turn you down and tell you you need to start the whole process all over again, you're supposed to be upset. I'm, surprisingly, not. I mean, it's all fine... At least I have stuff to add to my schedule. It's all about being positive, I'm telling you. This all should be over eventually, sooner than later. I'm learning in the process, thank you.

Stylish Science

So I was quietly whining to myself about this tedious work I had to do using Millipore's scientific catalogues and brochures lately… Until today, when I remembered I’ve actually always loved those pretty, stylishly colorful Millipore product catalogues and always thought it was a pity that I never really needed to use them for any meaningful purpose other than just meaninglessly flip through their pretty pages. What a fool I was all this time while working with them! I should be thankful for this opportunity to finally be turning the pages of those beauties with an actual purpose!

Think Positive

Imagine the situation.

I’m at work. I’m wearing light gray pants. I stain my butt with chocolate.

It doesn’t look pretty.

But I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later – eating chocolate behind a desk might not be the best idea. Looks like a piece of my dark 85% cocoa Lindt Excellence chocolate bar broke off and fell on my chair when I wasn’t looking… Then I sat back and now it’s all over my behind.

Thankful thing I happen to wear a cardi over a tee today, so at least I can tie it around my waist to cover this mess up and go home without having to expose those suspicious brown stains. I'm a true chocolate lover for real.

Working Sunday

Having to be in the office on Sunday, it's not so surprising that my thoughts revolved around work mostly. And so when I was thinking of what to be 'officially' thankful for today, I once again realized how thankful I was for the really good atmosphere at my job. Even though it's mostly women's environment it's still a gossip free zone, and even after 2.5 years here, it still amuses me just how understanding most of my colleagues are. I sure am lucky!

Morning. Conversation. Barcelona

Sometimes one little conversation can change so much: you suddenly have an all new approach to old things. You might not even notice or understand its impact at first, but sooner or later, reflecting back on the chat or even a single phrase, you realize how meaningful it actually was and how much sense it made. I'm thankful for this conversation I had with a friend on a sunny morning in Barcelona in August - somehow I got reminded I was capable of so many things, and ever since then I never once hesitated to give something I thought I wasn't qualified for enough a try.

Accomplished Busy Bee

I have been quite busy with a lot of different things lately, and have even been surprised with how little time I had left for certain things I used to do - even replying emails has required additonal effort. However, I don't mind being busy as long as it is for a good cause and as long as it makes me feel good, so I'm thankful. I've been busy but I've been feeling accomplished often lately.

Little Things

I got a bonus at work! Well, everyone in the office did, but it still feels really good, and especially so since it was very unexpected and I got more than I expected when they mentioned the bonus thing... Yay, thank you!

Then I came back home from work and had a little something waiting for me... A friend of mine sent me a cd with photos he promised to send (and I was starting to think he forgot about it)! Thank you, Savo!

There are a few more little things that happened today that I'm thankful for, and I am definitely thankful for such a nice end of the hectic working week!

Change of Environment

I really don't like doing other people's job (just like I hate it when someone starts doing mine without asking) and this working week's been very tiresome and hectic for me since I have to do lots of work that has nothing to do with my actual job here, but still, I realize that this change of professional environment is for good. It can't be too bad to shake up the usual familiar routine every once in a while, can it? So I'm thankful for the opportunity to try something else work-wise!

Make It Work

Having to help out at another department at work and basically replace a colleague at her desk while she's away on her leave, I can't help but be thankful for my own beautiful desk and working space. It's very me, it's much nicer, it has a personality of its own and it's so dear to me. I kinda miss it, but I'll be back next week!..

Work Under Pressure

Thanks go to myself for being able to work under pressure. What a hectic day: so little time, so much to do! Good that when I know I absolutely have to do somethin within a certain time range I can get myself inspired and just get it done, yay! :-)
